Pianist Louis Scherr has entertained and delighted audiences in Washington, D.C. and around the world with his extraordinary performances. After graduating Peabody Conservatory of Music, Louis used his classical training to develop his critically acclaimed jazz skills. Drawing from American popular song classics, jazz masterpieces, and his own compositions, Louis Scherr imbues the music with his own unique and identifiable style. A style that is swinging, lyrical and always compelling. Louis Scherr's piano artistry was described by piano virtuoso Adam Makowicz as "harmonically challenging and memorable, he manages to beautifully unite seemingly disparate classical and jazz elements". This mastery has been showcased by performances with a variety of artists including James Moody, Claudio Roditi, Joe Henderson, Joshua Redman, Dave Valentin, Rick Margitza, Lou Donaldson, Roy Haynes, Peper Adams, Valery Ponomarev, Buck Hill and others. From 1990 to 1994, Louis led the international Russian/American jazz quintet, "Partners In Time" (formerly Jazznost) which has concertized throughout the U.S., Canada, Western Europe and Russia. Their first CD "Joint Venture" is on Timeless Records and their second recording "Equinost" (Intersound) featuring Gary Burton, Ryan Kisor and Don Alias made it to the top ten on Gavin.
