Thu, Nov 12, 7 & 9:30 pm

Two jazz legends in one night. Trumpeter Hugh Masekela joins longtime musical confidant, pianist Larry Willis, at AMP, powered by Strathmore.

These giants of jazz trace their friendship back 50 years. Masekela, with the tutelage of Miriam Makeba, Harry Belafonte, Dizzy Gillespie, Louis Armstrong, and Miles Davis, went on to carve out a career that includes the hit “Grazing In The Grass” and the 1986 anthem “Bring Him Back Home (Nelson Mandela).” Meanwhile, Willis has performed as a sideman to Masekela, Blood, Sweat & Tears, Dizzy Gillespie, Stan Getz, and Cannonball and Nat Adderley, in addition to building a solo career.

Experience this rare opportunity to see two master musicians and best of friends apply their unique style to iconic songs as they take us on a journey through the Great American Songbook, together.
